The Christmas Tree sales this weekend were a huge success.  At both the Wyong and Bateau Bay sites all trees were sold out before 10 o'clock on both Saturday and Sunday. I was amazed at the number of customers waiting before the trees arrived at 6:30 in the morning.  Sales will continue next weekend and I would like to thank Past President Torin for the amount of effort he has put in making this project such a success.  I would also like to thank the volunteers that help sell trees at the weekend.

A final reminder about our Christmas Party next week.  It is going to be a great night as we celebrate our last get together before the new year.  For the last time there will be a RSVP section of the dinner notice for those that have still to let us know if they are coming.

This week we have Peita Berzins from Shelter Box coming to speak to us.  If you are unaware of the tremendous work Shelterbox does during natural disasters worldwide this will be a great opportunity to find out.

 Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

In November, we reached three years without a case of wild poliovirus type 3 (WPV3), an important sign that the genetic diversity of the disease is shrinking. But sounding a note of caution, the Emergency Committee of the International Health Recommendations met for the seventh time, extending the temporary recommendations to address the risk of the international spread of wild polio and expanding these to include circulating vaccine derived polioviruses. Earlier in the month, the Independent Monitoring Board reported on both the recent successes and the final challenges that stand in the way of finishing polio for good. And wrapping up this month, leaders from Commonwealth countries gathered in Malta to announce new commitments that will help to drive us forward towards a polio-free world.
