President's Message

Congratulations to all of the Primary School students that received awards at our Primary Citizenship awards night.  As our guest speaker Yasmin Cately put it "Our future is in good hands with young people such as these becoming future leaders".

I took the opportunity to go around the tables and speak to as many guests as possible. Two discussions really stood out for me.  One family from overseas told their relatives back home only  to discover that they were Rotarians and stressed how important and prestigious such and award was.  At another table the younger brother of one of our recipients stated that he was going to win the award next year.

I cannot thank Past President Bruce Thompson enough for the time and effort he puts in to making the event as successful as it is.

Could I remind everyone that the last chance we have of gathering items for The Entrance Rotary Club's collection for troops serving overseas will be at this week's meeting.  If you have any items please bring them along.

Past President Torin is looking for volunteers to help sell Christmas trees and I would also like some volunteers to sell our raffle tickets at the sites.  In this week's attendance notification form there will be an added place where you can put you availability to help.

The Christmas Party is on 16th December and I need numbers urgently.  There will also be a spot on the Attendance Notification form where you can indicate your attendance at the party.

I have asked Ken if he could include two new sections to the Newsletter.  One would be for community events so we can help spread the news of events happening in our community that might be of interest to our readers.  If we have any Rotarians with other affiliations let Ken know so that he can provide a link to help publicise your event.  In the other we will link to correspondence that we have received that is of interest to everyone.

Finally George and I will be attending the 70th anniversary of Gosford Rotary Club this Thursday night at Gosford Golf Club.  If anyone else would like to go with us please let me know ASAP.  It is $30 a head.

 Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

Your Newsletter.

The purpose of this weekly newsletter is to try to keep you informed of the work of Rotary International on a global , local and club scale. In attempting to do this I mainly follow the e newsletter protocol  of providing a brief introduction or teaser with a link for those that want to explore the topic more.  I am aware that a great number of our subscribers first contact with the Newsletter each week is via their phone or tablet.  For this reason I try to keep the basic content as succinct as possible.

I know that this Newsletter is opened by the majority of subscribers each week but I am not sure if I am meeting these goals or fulfilling your needs.  I receive very little, if any, feedback and would like to hear from you with both negative and positive comments so that this Newsletter can better serve you

Thank you

Ken Smith

Barefoot Bowls for the Iris Foundation

Hi Fellow Rotarians A lot of our Rotarians were instrumental in the refurbishment of the EIC Cottage in Wyong for the Iris Foundation. Therefore, we would take this opportunity to update you on the Iris Foundation's Barefoot Bowls Fundraiser on the 6th November.  Even though the rain came down in buckets we still managed to raise $9600.  A big thank …
