President's message

Last week we had a very full and productive meeting.  Firstly I would like to thank our local MP David Harris for coming along and sharing some of his experiences and insights into the running of our state parliament as well as a little of his life as a long time resident of the Central Coast.

It is always a great pleasure to introduce a new member to our club and last week we inducted Bruce Hodges.  Bruce is a long time Rotarian and in his position as an officer in the Salvation Army has been a member of many Rotary Clubs in New South Wales as his work has moved him around the state.  Most recently Bruce was a member of the Rotary Club of Campsie but now, in his retirement, he has joined us at Northlakes Toukley. Welcome Bruce we look forward to working with you and taking advantage of your vast experience.

Assistant District Governor Russell Grove also joined us at our meeting presenting the club with a District website commendation certificate for the 2014-2015 Rotary year.  Thanks Ken for your work on the club website.

There are many unsung heroes in our community and this week we will be hearing from two of them, Barbara Galvin and Pamela Warton, of Shirley's Shuttle, a service ensuring people can keep life saving hospital appointments.  Come along and hear their story I'm sure you will be inspired.

Club shirts are once again available and I will be taking orders.  The cost is around $35 so if you want to place an order let me know.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk
