President's Message

I would like to Congratulate Past President Peter and his team on a wonderful and highly productive 22014-15 Rotary year.  You have left very big shoes to fill and I will do my very best to build on your good work.

In my first President's message for the year I would like to reiterate the message I spoke of at Changeover as I believe it sets the tone for the coming Rotary Year.

It doesn't matter if you're retired, a teacher, Podiatrists, Pharmacists, real estate agent, Restaurant owner, CEO Business owner, butcher or a marketer, we are all here for the same cause, to work for our community, to give service above self and to use our gifts to help others. Rotary is a way to bring out the best part of ourselves When we are gone we will not be remembered for the cars we drive, the clothes we wear or the titles we carried but we will beremembered by the type of person we were and how we made a difference to our world. Each year in rotary there is a new theme. 2015-2016 President of Rotary international Ravi Ravindran has chosen "Be a Gift to the world".

Ravi wrote

"Every one of us has something to give — whoever we are whatever our place in life, we can give our talent, our knowledge, our abilities, and our efforts we can give our dedication and our devotion through rotary. We can take these gifts and make a genuine difference in the lives of others and in our world.

Our time is now it will never come again.  Be a Gift to the world".

 Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourzik

News From Khatmandu

You could tell something was wrong when I landed late on Tuesday night and there was only three  foreigners in the immigration hall at Kathmandu airport. Usually there are hundreds. Now here in our town, there is an alien, eerie stillness and quietness that creates a surrealness. The streets are not as noisy nor is there a constant hooting of horns …
