President Message

Hello, Fellow Rotarians and Namaste!

"The innate pleasure of giving from the heart surpasses all other pleasures." Roshni Prasad Sinha

Yesterday after giving the Christmas gifts to the Benevolent Society at Gosford where PP Annette works, I returned home and found the Lakes Food Centre open.  I spoke with Bev Hopkins who has been running this non- profit Centre for 8 years through Toukley Neighborhood Centre which literally helps our neighborhood and something our Rotary Club should support. While there,  a family with 3 beautiful girls were shopping and the little one wanted chocolates. I was surprised to find that Bev gives items for free. On this occasion, she gave them $90.00  worth making their Christmas bright.  I was paying the amount of $100 anonymously but the lady would not accept all that food which she thought was from the centre-$190.00.  Bev then identified me.  I had my Rotary badge and told her we are Rotarians and this is our pleasure.  I do not believe  anything I will  receive this Christmas will surpass the feeling I experienced and the delight on the children's faces and the gratitude on the mother's face!.

I have done this before but somehow coming face to face with the recipient brought so many memories.

We have all been there when we just needed a helping hand or a hand up either in our life or when we were children. The mom's comment was "I will get on my feet".  I said I am sure you will.

I counted all my blessings and so should all of us.!

I have attended a few functions in the last few weeks:

Rasik and I attended the Foundation Dinner as well as D.A.L.E evening after graduation.

May the Joy and Peace you feel with family and friends give you hope for next year. May the New Year bring you Good Health and Happiness.

It has been my pleasure to be the President for 2018 and thank you to all of the Past Presidents who have offered me advice direction and encouragement. I want to thank my members, I have heard encouraging words and genuine warmth when attending our meetings.

If I have inadvertently stepped on any toes, made any remarks which hurt your feelings I apologize that was never my intention.  Please feel free to continue to help me make next year great.  I will take constructive criticism from everyone except Rasik!

I want our new year to be full of the Rotary spirit and that we all " BE AN INSPIRATION".

May God Bless All Of You

Yours in Rotary Roshni

Following this event on the 2nd December, RCNT sent 60 $300 FPOS cards to Rotary Club Tamworth West for distribution to farmers in the region. The following is an update from Neville Evans RCTW.

Hi Mitch,

Some photos of card presentations during the last week.

1. Myself to Richard Chaffey, President of my club, the Rotary Club of Tamworth West.

2.Richard and I with Manilla Rotary President Stuart Faulks and Cluster Director, Dimity Betts.

3. To Nikki Robertson, Quirindi Rotary President.

Richard and I visited some farms yesterday to deliver cards. Among the recipients was a man who lost both arms in a machinery accident. He still farms with the help of his wife and son.

Another chap said he has spent over $300,000 on stock feed so far in this drought.

People are reluctant to take the cards as they say “There are people more deserving than us.”

This is typical of farming folk. However, we have been able to talk them into accepting.

They are amazed by the generosity of your club and have asked us to pass their thanks on to you.

All the cards should find homes by the end of this week.

Our club would still like to have a visit from one or more of your members. Maybe during our country music festival in January?

Meanwhile, we wish you a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.

Neville Evans

Message from P.Roshni

Thank you for those attending the Christmas Dinner, it was indeed a very enjoyable evening and I am delighted that you all had a good time.

It was a well-deserved recognition of 20 years  of Bruce Thompson's dedication to the Primary Citizenship Awards with a beautiful photograph of the 2018 Awards taken and presented by Maurie.

The Paul Harris Recipient for 2108 was Lynn Thompson who is a Past Rotarian and helped in various ways with her company providing all the Banners and multimedia requirement by our club.  She was dedicated and a great Rotarian with real Rotary spirit.  We wish her and Alan a very deserving year-long holiday.

Christmas Message From Chairperson RAWCS:

This year RAWCS has seen a huge growth in its work of assisting Rotarian's through clubs and districts delivering humanitarian aid to people in need.
Our volunteers are to be commended for their commitment assisting people who very much need our support.
The support of Rotarian's assisting drought affected communities is one instance of reaching out to people who are doing it tough.
The mantra of “well being not welfare” has had a big impact on the people that have been reached out to.
The many hours contributed by volunteers both here and overseas have had an impact of improving the quality of life for so many.
At this time of the year it is appropriate that we at RAWCS pause and take advantage of Christmas time to express our gratitude and appreciation to you for your support.
On behalf of the board and our hard working staff, I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you and your families a safe and Happy Christmas and may the New Year bring peace and prosperity to all.

Lets have a laugh

A Retiree sits around the house all day. . .

So, one day his wife says, "Joe, you could do something useful,

like vacuum the house once a week"

The guy gives it a moment's thought and says:

"Sure, why not.  Where's the vacuum?"

Half an hour later, Joe walks into the kitchen to get some coffee.

His wife says, "I didn't hear the vacuum running.  I thought you

were going to use it."

Exasperated, Joe answers, "The stupid thing is broken.  It won't

start. We need to buy a new one."

"Really", she says, "Show me - It worked fine the last time I used it".

So, he showed her.. .
