President Message

Hello Rotarians and Namaste.

October 10th  was World Mental Health Day -  " Your illness does not define you,  your strength and courage does."

October 24th was World Polio Day - established by Rotary International. "When  Polio is completely eradicated, it will always be regarded as a great Rotary and human achievement " Roshni Sinha.

Thank you to our Rotarians Mitch, Doreen, Peter, Jan, Annette, Jackie, Debbie, David and Bruce Hodges for attending on Oct 17th and to Dennis, a Rotarian for Kenhurst Rotary Club representing Shine for Kids. It was such an informative and comprehensive report of what the children experience when their parents are incarcerated.  Children are inadvertently paying for the crimes of their parents. Annette was able to explain how real this pain and suffering is for everyone in the family.

Our Rotary Golf Day was on Oct 19th and was well attended by both Rotarians and the community.   Mr.  David Harris MP was one of our guests and we are grateful for his attendance, he had a function to attend earlier.  We would like to express our gratitude to Kooindah Water for providing the venue.

It was Jenny's herculean effort to put on the Rotary Golf Day this year because she is also working for Ronald Macdonald house!.  She succeeded brilliantly with Peter contributing for Rotary.  These two people deserve our gratitude for doing such a remarkable job.

Thank you, Jenny and Peter, on behalf of all of us at RCNT

Thank you to all the Rotarians who helped to set up for Oct 19th and thank you for all the apologies.

See at the Board and Club Meeting on Nov 7th. We also have special guest speaker from Central Coast Rescue Squad.

In the meantime, have a meaningful week.

Yours in Rotary Roshni

Central Coast Rescue Squad

Our purpose is to preserve the quality of life and provide the Central Coast a small army of unpaid professionals that are ready to respond at a moments notice, ready to lend a “helping hand, anywhere, anytime.” Also to provide community awareness about road safety, with programmes such as Driver Reviver. In The Beginning… In the mid 1970’s before the freeway …

It was my pleasure to meet Mr.Brain Yates from Job Centre and they were well represented.  Their Ambassador, Simon Patmore, a Paraolympian, who is also a Gold Medal winner was present.  It is an inspiration to witness Job Centre giving back to the community.

It was a pleasure to meet Gerard Hirst from Service Australia and his group also sponsored breakfast for the golfers, another example of giving back to the community.

Our Rotarian Torin was there with his group and we are grateful for such a dedicated Rotarian.

Gavin and Raylee were present as well as many  Macdonald golfers who won the golf bag as well.  Thank you for your support.

We had some of the Newcastle Knights members representing the team and were instrumental in raising over $1500 for auctioning their jersey!

The Rotary Golf Day has been donating half of the funds to Ronald Macdonald House and the rest is used for the numerous charities supported by Rotary.

Thank you, David Rivett, AG  for supporting the Golf Day.  It was really good to see so many  Rotarian golfers supporting us.

The public response was excellent. I went to each table to thank everyone for coming and they were pleased to support Rotary and thanked me for what our club is doing for the community as well.

Thank you, Peter, for doing such an excellent job helping Jenny with Golf Day.  Jenny has been a great supporter of both Rotary and Ronald McDonald house

There was approximately $26.000 raised and $10.000 was raised within the hour during the auction with Jenny and Jamie getting the crowd outbidding each other! It was really excellent to witness such enthusiasm.  I am sure that Torrin and Gerard will be fishing soon after their winning bid.

We must thank Jamie Cartner from Vocal Events for donating his time and helping with the auction. He also did some mysterious, magic card games which people were still trying to find out about after the day was over!

Our Rotarians Peter and Doreen were there early in the morning and Brett was there to make sure no one left without paying!  Excellent job!

November 21st - 20th Anniversary of

Primary Citizenship Awards

The Rotary Primary Citizenship Awards will celebrate it's 20th Anniversary in 2018. Over 700 Primary children have received Rotary Citizenship Awards since the awards began in 1999 when a past Rotarian, Noel Nightingale, brought the idea to the club. Noel, who has since passed away, was instrumental in ensuring this awards became a significant and ongoing event for the Toukley RC and later the Northlakes Toukley  Rotary Club. Our club is the only club to hold these awards on the Central Coast, and while others have considered them , they have not taken up the opportunity.

These awards are an outstanding example of how Rotary can showcase itself to the broader community. Each year over 200 parents , grandparents and friends attend, providing an excellent opportunity to present an overview of who we are , why we are Rotarians and what we do.

This year a team of four Rotarians will work together to present these awards ( Deb Carroll, Kylie Tywford, David Knight and Bruce Thompson). Again Gavin McLeod from MacDonalds will sponsor the event allowing the club to provide cheaper meals as well as quality medallions and certificates.

All Rotarians are invited to attend on November 21st where our special guest will be the Federal Member for Dobell Emma McBride. Another special night is assured. Please plan to be with us.

Bookings can be made through the" trybooking" site for the night at the special Rotarian price of $20. Bookings must be made by Friday 16th November. The booking site is  https://www.trybooking.com/YBWV. Rotarians need the special code to book  we will email this to you.

The Husband’s Report

Husband: My wife is missing. She went shopping yesterday and has not come home!

Officer: Age?

Husband: I'm not sure. Somewhere between 50 and 60.  We don't do birthdays.

Officer: Height?

Husband:  I'm not sure.  A little over five-feet tall.

OFFICER : Weight?

Husband:  Don't know.  Not slim, not really fat.

OFFICER : Color of eyes?

Husband: Sort of brown, I think.

OFFICER : Color of hair?

Husband: Changes a couple times a year.  Maybe dark brown now. I can’t remember.

OFFICER : What was she wearing?

Husband:  Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts.  I don't know exactly.

OFFICER : What kind of car did she go in?

Husband:  She went in my truck.

OFFICER : What kind of truck was it?

Husband : A 2016, pearl white Ram 2500 Limited 4X4 with 6.4l Hemi V8 engine ordered with the Ram  Box bar and fridge option, led lighting, back up and front camera, Moose hide leather heated and cooled seats, climate controlled air conditioning.  It has a custom matching white cover for the bed, Weather Tech floor mats. Trailering package with gold hitch, sunroof, DVD with full GPS navigation, satellite radio, Cobra 75 WX ST 40-channel CB radio, six cup holders, 3 USB ports, and 4 power outlets.  I added special alloy wheels and off-road Toyo tires.    It has custom retracting running boards and under-glow wheel well lighting.  At this point the husband started choking up.

OFFICER :   Take it easy sir,    We'll find your truck.
