President's Message

Greetings fellow Rotarians

Dreams and dedication are a powerful combination (William Longwood). Over past weeks we have been dreaming of what may be possible. Some dreams are realities. Others are challenging. All require dedication to gain success. These powerful combinations create the club's projects and give us satisfaction. Keep on dreaming with dedication.

It was a delight to hear Annette's account of her trip to Nepal with the Didi team. Whilst Jan has drawn us into this Club sponsored activity, Annette's insights reinforced our commitment to this project. It was an example of dreams and dedication making a powerful combination for the Nepalese people.

The Club Board meeting was a catch up of many items and requests. Most significant items were shared with the members. Two items that stood out where Daryl Smith's invitation to financially equip a homeless persons feeding van and the potential emergency resources shed. Both are being further explored as to possible government funding with the Foundation potentially granting $3,000 to the shed. Presentations are being arranged for both projects. Once we have enough facts and costings then the Club will decide on term project funding.  Also, the meeting decided that this year 5% club designated net fund raising will be  allocated to the Foundation.

Projects are important yet what is more important is the fellowship, respect, trust we have together. Together there is so much potential for succeeding. Meeting with likewise fellows who are about improving communities and each other is a privilege.

Your dreams and dedication are powerful combinations.

Regards & blessings

David Knight

President 2017/18

Dr Bull has a long-standing history with the Model United Nations Assembly as her mother, to which the prize is named after, dedicated much of her life towards improving peace. Mr Cowan, as the President of the Toukley/Northlakes Rotary Club, has fully supported our school’s involvement in MUNA for many years. The students Anna Jones, Jordyn Watts and Gerhard Bester

The DALE School - Update

The DALE School for young parents received a community grant from Gosford Wyong Shire of over $19,700 from which they were able to purchase the van. They are now having bolts put in the van and seeking 12 baby seats to ensure safe pickups for their students.

By being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Northlakes Toukley it has enabled the school to apply for  Rotary Australia Benevolent Society (RABS) status. This  has opened up many opportunities for this school which they are sincerely grateful.
