President's Message

Last week's Board meeting saw Directors & Committee Chairs confirming arrangements for our major Club events for the remainder of my Rotary year – Membership Recruitment With a Twist on the 1st April; Charity Race Day on the 9th April ; Pride of Workmanship/Vocational Excellence Awards Night on the 27th May; Benefactor/Beneficiary Night on the 10 June ; and Club Changeover Dinner on the 24th June. All are significant events  in our Club’s annual calendar and I encourage all members to participate in as many of these activities as possible.

This week is a normal dinner meeting night with an  excellent Guest Speaker – Cooper Jitts, Managing Director - Talk Agency. Cooper will provide an interesting insight into the lengths that Google, Face Book etc. may go in securing maximum advertising  dollars. An excellent opportunity to introduce friends and business acquaintances to our Rotary Club.

Next Week

1st April

Already a number of interested people have indicated that they will be attending.  Come along and show them how interesting, vibrant and fun our club is. Let's support membership chair Lyn with this great initiative.

Driver Awareness Program

Last Wednesday Northlakes Toukley Rotary provided four volunteers to assist with the program being conducted at Wyong Racecourse. Graham and Anne Steel, Bruce Thomson and Ken Smith accompanied groups from Gorakan High School and Wadalba Community School as they undertook a variety of driving safely education activities.

Originally a Rotary Program it is now run by Road Safety Education with Rotary being a major partner.  If you ever have an opportunity to volunteer for this program grab it.  Not only will you learn much yourself but you will meet some wonderful local young people.

Pictured are two of our volunteers. Don't be fooled by their serious looks...they had a great day!

District 9685 Conference 2015

Five Northlakes Toukley Rotarians attended the District Conference this weekend. The conference was held at the Crowne Plaza Resort in the Hunter Valley.  The venue was excellent and provided a high quality of food and refreshments.

District conferences are always a wonderful showcase of and for Rotary and this one was no exception.  All the speakers were of the highest quality and provided inspiration.  It is not until you attend a conference such as this that you really begin to understand what a magnificent organisation Rotary is and what a far ranging and positive effect for the peoples and environment of our world it has.  I can only urge anyone who hasn't attended a district conference and is able to do so in the future, grab it with both hands, you won't be disappointed.

Pictured above are Maurie Schokman, Jan Pryor, Ken Smith and President Elect Jenny Abourizk. Not pictured but attending was Bruce Thompson.
