President's Message

Hello everyone hope you are all well,

Thanks to Peita from Shelter box on the update of the fantastic work they are doing around the world and like all charity organisation it was interesting to see how they have had to adopt the help and provide and made it more relevant to each disaster situation.

Yesterday was our annual race day which has now been running form some 10 years or so and we were blessed with some fine weather and a full day of racing. Whilst the numbers were down a bit this year we still manage to have a great day and raise some $12,000.00 odd dollars to help with our work thru out the year. Also a huge thankyou to all those that donated the Easter eggs and alcohol to our hamper box which went to a very deserving young couple and their baby from Gorokan. These days would be no near as successful without the help of members like Jenny and Maurie who always put in so much effort to making the day a success so thank you.

Please remember Wyong club is holding their 60”s night on Saturday the 6TH May and I would love our club to be well represented at this night. If you can go please let me know how many tickets you will need and I will get them altogether. Please as a club let’s support this night and have a fun night out.

Not sure who our guest speaker is next week but hopefully it’s in the newsletter somewhere we also have a board meeting first at 5.30pm so please get there on time if you can.

Jan and Annette are both off to Nepal and we wish them all the very best for a safe and enjoyable trip and look forward to hearing their stories when they get back.

For those who are board members next year during David’s year as President please remember to register and attend District assembly it’s very important you attend and attend the breakout sessions for your avenue of service for the year. Any questions please talk tom DAVID.

Kind Regards

Mitch

Guest speaker Peita Berzins from Shelter Box

Peita's presentation was on Rotary

New Horizons for Shelter Box ?

An excellent and informative presentation on how Shelter Box has now added Shelter Kits to its disaster relief options. These kits provide tools, tarps, solar lighting etc. allowing those effected by disaster to repair their home and quickly restore some order to their lives. These kits are proving to be a great success.
