President's Message

Over the last several weeks we have had a number of Senior Rotarians from District 9685 visit our club and give us the latest information available on a number of subjects.

Last Wednesday was no exception with an old friend PDG Bryan O'Shannassy giving us a insightful presentation to the Rotary Leadership Institute. Over the last 5 years many current members of RCNT have attended the 3 day course. I encourage all members to refer to the Agenda (attached below) to review the subject matter covered over the 3 days. If you can find the time, 3 single days spread over 3 months, it will be time well spent.

For personal reasons P.Mitch has had to postpone the Board Meeting to 5.30pm on Wednesday 21st September. Following the meeting we  have a very proud PP Annette present to us our young student who will represent RCNT at next years National Youth Science Forum. Jasmine Green will give us a presentation on the Forum process and what she hopes to achieve.

Remember to please make contact with PP Jenny and see if you can be of assistance at the rescheduled Golf Day now the 4th November 2016.

We have a presentation at Wyong Hospital on the 21st September at 9.30am, (see below) P.Mitch will email all those members who agreed to attend. Remember press will be in attendance so Rotary shirts and badges may be appropriate attire.

Please remember to ask someone RUOK and listen to the answer. We can all do our bit to help the growing epidemic of Mental Health.

Please review "Dates For Your Diary" and note we start our pilot fortnightly meetings on 28th September.

Reminder to book for District Governor Official Combined Club Visit on 15th October. Let Mitch know when you make the booking, if we have the numbers we could investigate hiring bus or similar shared transport.

Don't forget to book your attendance and meal order as early as possible, so we can organise and book meals.

Enjoy the week implementing the Four Way Test in all we do and say:

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Regards & blessings

David Knight
President Elect

Yours in Rotary

Weekly Meeting 21st September, 2016

RCNT Youth Director PP Annette D'Adam, presents our successful student at National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) Jasmine Green

PP Annette attended the NYSF Orientation Dinner on Saturday 3rd September with our student Jasmine Green and her parents Daniella and Richard.  The evening celebrated the successful students across our District 9685.

"It was wonderful to see 4 Central Coast girls represented".

The evening was a wonderful showcase of the types of activities the students will focus on during their stay on January 17.  There is a strong contingent of students who are interested in furthering their studies in Chemistry, Engineering,  Psychology and Science to name a few. Very inspiring young people that oozed confidence and determination.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Jasmine in being a successful candidate and that we at Northlakes Toukley Rotary are all very proud and honoured to support you in your future goals.

Well done and good luck to all the students

Last Week Meeting 14th September

Speaker: PDG Bryan O'Shannassy

Rotary Leadership Institute

The success of Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) in District 9685 is because it delivers skills and knowledge that Rotarians can apply straight away in their clubs.  RLI (1) hones leadership skills, (2) builds Rotary knowledge, (3) gives a perspective about where Rotary has been and where it is now, and (4) shares a vision of what Rotary can be.  This is all done while (5) networking with Rotarians from other clubs and (6) providing opportunities for partnering in service.

The three-part course is held on Saturdays or Sundays at our District Office, Thornleigh. Morning tea and lunch are provided.  Each day starts at 8:30 for 9:00am and finishes around 3:45pm.

Until further notice, District is bearing the full cost as part of its training budget .

Courses 37 (Sundays) and 38 (Saturdays) and are open for registration:

RLI 37 runs 18 September, 9 October, 30 October

RLI 38 runs 15 October, 12 November and 26 November

Whats Up

        ---------------------------------------------

We need your pre-loved Rotary Down Under magazines. After reading your monthly magazine please bring them along to Wednesday meeting and we will look at attaching an RCNT details sticker on the back of the magazine and redistribute to waiting rooms in the district.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the launch of Rotary Global Rewards on 1 July 2015, over 100,000 members have visited the site! We would like to thank you for supporting the program by spreading awareness of it among your district and clubs.

If you have not visited Rotary Global Rewards recently, we now have over 1,500 offers worldwide. We recommend using the member benefits program both locally and when you travel.

If you’d like to give discounts to other Rotarians, add your own company’s special offers to the growing portfolio of Rotary Global Rewards. To date, over 350 offers have been posted by Rotarians.

We have also added two new and exciting global travel offers, a hotel discount center and an airline discount center, which provide great discounts and give up to 10 percent of your purchase back to Rotary.

See www.rotary.org/globalrewards for details. Spend less, give more.

Best regards,

Rotary Global Rewards program team
