25th January, 2015

President’s Message

Thanks to Lyn & Alan Thompson for hosting our first meeting for 2015.  Eighteen members and partners attended this social event sharing culinary delights intermingled and a “few” local beverages and lots of laughter.  Full compliments to our own Master Chefs Brett Herbert and Steve Edmonds who looked after the BBQ.

Our first major event for the year will be participation in  International Women’s Day EXPO to be held at Ourimbah Campus on the weekend on the 7th & 8th March. This event will be officially launched with a Cocktail Party, hosted by CC Business Women Connect, on Thursday 5th March at The Function Glasshouse Centre, The Entrance. Full details to follow.

Our first major fundraising event for 2015 is our Charity Race Day held at Wyong Race Club on Thursday 9th April with the major beneficiary being “Beryl’s Place” –a dementia respite centre managed by Community Care Services-Central Coast Ltd. Mitch Cowan is coordinating this event and will shortly be calling for your assistance. Please keep this day free if possible.

Rotary International will be celebrating its 110th anniversary on the 23rd February – how do you think we should acknowledge this important date?

Look forward to catching with members and guests next Wednesday.

Club President

Using their talents, expertise, and leadership, Rotary members worldwide are asked to be gifts to the world this upcoming 2015-16 Rotary year.

Rotary International President-elect K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran called Sunday's address to incoming district governors the "most significant moment of my life."

"All of you have been given so many gifts. And you have now been given this great gift: one year to take all your talents, all your gifts, everything that you are and can become -- and Be a Gift to the World," said Ravindran, revealing his presidential theme at the annual five-day training meeting in San Diego, California, USA. "You have one year to take that potential and turn it into reality. One year to lead the clubs in your district and transform the lives of others. The time is so short, yet there is so much to be done."

DIDI Foundation Quarterly Report

Our The Didi Foundation Inc. committee would like to publicly thank Belinda Griffen for the wonderful work she is doing in the RAWCS finance office. Her happy demeanour, where nothing is a problem, (even when you know it is a big problem) her efficiency, patience and knowledge have been encouraging in developing our confidence in using this system. Having monthly statements will be a welcoming bonus. Thanks Belinda
