President's Message

I hope all Mums have had a wonderful day and have been thoroughly spoilt.

Last week's Information night was a very enjoyable meeting and was topped off by our visitor from the E-Club of Lake Atitlan Guatemala Dwight Mara-Poage While Dwight is living in Guatemala he comes From San Diego USA and is married to an Aussie girl.

My thanks to Past President Peter McCloskey for doing a great job of chairing the meeting and to Deb Carroll for arranging the venue and catering. My thanks also to our visitor Dwight, Past President Ken Smith and McDonald Room Coordinator Kami Dibden for speaking.  As always it was a delight to have or ADG Russell Grove with us. It was also a pleasure to welcome the guests that came along to find out more about Rotary and hopefully may result in some new members.

At last week's meeting we were able to perform one of the most important Rotary ceremonies, the induction of a new member. ADG Russell presented Helen Hellyer with her Rotary pin and welcomed her as the newest member of Rotary. Congratulations Helen we look forward to working with you to benefit our local community and the wide world of Rotary International.

This week we have one of the most important events of our Rotary Calendar, the annual Pride of Workmanship, Service Above Self and Vocational Excellence Awards.  Past President Annette D'Adam and Rotarian Jan Pryor have put a lot of time and effort into organising this night and I can't thank them enough. It would be wonderful to see a big turnout of Rotarians to support them and to show our appreciation of the work and effort of members of our community.

Our guest speaker on 18th May will be our ADG Russell Grove.  This is bound to be a very interesting night so make sure you have it in your diary.

This has been a very busy month so for our last two meetings in May we are going to show support to two of our fellow Central Coast clubs by transferring our meeting to attend their events.  These will be covered both further in this and coming Newsletters.

Finally I would like to mention our last big event for this year, the Benefactors Night on 8th June.  This is where we express our thanks to our sponsors and supporters and provide our beneficiaries with the fruits of our labour of the last 12 months.  This year both our benefactors and beneficiaries will be provided the opportunity to have a table to showcase their company or charity.  If you are one of our benefactors or beneficiaries and would like to  take advantage of this please let me know.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

Apology

Unfortunately there appears to have been some malfunction with the camera and none of the pictures taken on the night came out.  I apologise for this very upsetting occurrence. - Ken Smith
