Put it in the diary

As 2014 comes to a close I would like to thank all Rotarians for your assistance during the first half of my term as Club President  with special mention to Torin and his helpers for their efforts in our recent annual Xmas Tree sales. This year Club members sold 332 Trees over two weekends as well as donating a number of trees to local charities. In all, 1500 Xmas Tress were sold across the Coast, a tremendous effort for the four Clubs involved and significant funds raised on behalf of a local charity Grand Parents raising Grand Children.

On a sad note,  I advise the passing of PP Walter Leijten, our BowelCare Program Chairman, on Wednesday 10 December 2014 following a long illness. Walter was a marvellous advocate for bowel cancer awareness for the past 25 years and will be sadly missed by all.  A funeral service will be held at Palmdale’s Hillside Chapel on Monday 22 December at 2:30 pm.

It was pleasing to see our AGM so well attended with the 2015/16 elections clearly demonstrating the strength and depth of our Club. My congratulations to Jenny Abourizk on her appointment as President for 2015/16 as well as election of Steve Edmonds as President Elect for 2016/17. Congratulations also to those members who so willingly accepted nomination for the various executive or club portfolios. I can’t recall the last Club election when not only were all formal positions filled but members were also volunteering for a number of ancillary roles as well. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THOSE WHO ACCEPTED NOMINATION TO THE 2015/16 BOARD

On behalf of Pat & myself I would like to take this opportunity to wish all members and your families a very Merry Xmas and best wishes for a prosperous and happy New Year.

Christmas Tree Sales Success

Organisor, Past President Torin, reports that our club alone sold over 330 trees during the two weekends of sales.

In total over 1500 trees were sold by the 4 clubs selling trees across the Central Coast.  A magnificent  effort by all concerned.

"I haven't got final figures yet but will let you know in the next newsletter", said Torin.

Club Awards Wadalba Community School Dux of The Year

The Rotary Club of Northlakes Toukley has had the pleasure of sponsoring this award since the opening of the school. It  is presented to the student who tops Year 12 academically.

Because the awardee is not known until after the close of the academic year it is always awarded one year retrospectively.

The award for 2013 was presented to Lily Williams, seen here with deputy Principal Cameron Dusting (left) and Principal Jason McGrath (right).

Congratulations Lily

The Cararoo Board, helpers & staff would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and New Year. The work never gets any easier but always rewarding. Visit our web site and Facebook for short regular stories.
