President's Message

Our guest speakers last week, Simon Wood and Chris Kent from the Wyong Lakes AFL Club, clearly demonstrated the commitment local sporting bodies have to bettering the life of all members of our community.  It is very pleasing to know that we can help them in some small way through our community raffle.  Keep up the good work fellows.

Umina Beach Rotary Club has let me know that we have to limit the numbers that are able  to go to the Preview Restaurant from our club to 18.  This is the number that said they would like to go at our last meeting.  They also said that they need payment before the event.  Ken has put more information and a link further in this Newsletter for you to confirm your intention. Payment details are also provided.

Next week on 4th May we will be having our information night for prospective new members and those that would just like to find out a little more about Rotary.  This is the time to bring along friends and acquaintances that might be interested.  It would be good to see a big turnout of members for this night.

Our usual monthly social outing takes place this week.  Deb Carroll has gone to a lot of trouble to organise another great night.  This month we're off the Canton Chinese Restaurant at Toukley.  See you all there.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

Simon Wood Present Wyong Lakes AFL Club, President Jenny, ADG Russell Grove,

Chris Kent member Wyong Lakes AFL Club

Our guest speakers last week, Simon Wood the President of Wyong Lakes AFL Club and Chris Kent one of the senior players, left us in no doubt about the club's commitment to both the code and the local community.  Their mission to support all ages both male and female to take advantage of what the club has to offer was clearly evident.  Being able to use our community raffle to advance this mission was greatly appreciated.

This is the time to bring along friends  to find out a little more about our great organisation.

Council grants clubs greater flexibility

The 2016 Council on Legislation may well be remembered as one of the most progressive in Rotary history. Council members granted clubs more freedom to determine their meeting schedule and membership, and approved a per capita dues increase of $4 a year for three years to enhance Rotary’s website, improve online tools, and add programs for clubs. Read more about the Councilsee photos, and download vote totals

Subway promotional day - supporting Westpac Rescue Helicopter

Just wondering if your Rotary Club is able to help us out?  Subway have kindly offered to host a promotional day on Saturday 30 April in all their stores, but we need to provide a volunteer at each store with a collection bucket.

I’m having trouble filling the stores on the north end of the Coast and wondered if your Rotary could possibly spare a few hours to volunteer for us?  They would be required to be at a Subway store from 10am-2pm.

The stores we need helpers at are:

Northlakes San Remo

Lake Munmorah

Lake Haven – 2 locations – 14 Bannister Drive & Lake Haven foodcourt

Tuggerah Westfield

Tuggerah Straight

Thanks, appreciate anything you can do. I can be contacted on email address below.
