President's Message

This weekend, along with Peter McCloskey, Mitch Cowan, Roshni Sinha and Maurie Schokman I attended the District Assembly.  This is the third Assembly I have attended and each time there is something new and wonderful to discover about Rotary.  This year the Assembly once again was extremely educational and informative.  Congratulations to the organisers for presenting such a good day.  I would urge anyone that really wants to know what Rotary is all about to take the opportunity to attend such an event.

I would like to share with you a little about one of the organisations that is raising money through our community raffle.  Recently the Wyong Lakes AFL club lost their clubhouse at Tacoma through vandalism and arson.  They are taking the opportunity to use our community raffle to help raise funds to rebuild.  It is most satisfying that we are able to provide a vehicle to help groups such as this.

The community raffle is fast coming to its closing date and while there is still time to get and sell more tickets I would urge that groups start returning their sold stubs in as soon as possible.

Along with many of our members, as well as some from Wyong Tuggerah and The Entrance, I thoroughly enjoyed our movie night last week.  Thanks to our Foundation Chair Ken Smith for organising the event.

I would also like to thank the Wyong Regional Chronicle for picking up items from our Newsletter and publishing them.  Their interest and support is much appreciated.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

End Polio Now Movie Night

A big thank you to those that attended the movie Eddie The Eagle last week.  Special thanks to Rotary Foundation District Chair Tony Castley and Sandra and members from Wyong Tuggerah and The Entrance for coming along.

We all enjoyed a great movie while raising funds for the End Polio Now campaign.

Our two movie nights this year have raised a total of $1053.00 which, when multiplied by the 2 for 1 pledge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, means that $3159.00 will go towards this cause.
