President's Message

Thank you Mitch for running last week's meeting I appreciate it very much.

Last week I had to organise and M.C. a work function for the employers that use our service.  Doing this made me realise how much I have to thank Rotary for.  Being your president this year has given me the confidence and skills to attempt things that I would not have dreamed possible just a short time ago.  Thank you Rotary, you provide opportunities in so many ways, and some of them unforeseen.

This weekend some of us are off to the District Conference in Canberra. I personally am looking forward to this very much.  At our meeting next week we will give you some idea of the Conference outcomes.

I am really looking forward to hearing from Jan Pryor and learning more about RAWCS this week.  Congratulations are also in order to Jan for taking on the roll of Chair of the District RAWCS Committeee.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

MARCH 2016

Some years ago, I was asked to speak at an Interact club in my home city of Colombo, Sri Lanka. I have always taken my interactions with Rotary youth very seriously, so I prepared my remarks carefully and put the same effort into my presentation that I would for any other event. After the meeting, I stayed to chat with a few of the Interactors, answering their questions and wishing them well.

I came out of the classroom where we had met into the autumn afternoon. The bright sun was shining directly into my eyes, so I found a bit of shade behind a pillar where I could wait for my ride.

This Week

9th March, 2016

Don’t miss the awesome, Northlakes Toukley’s own, Jan Pryor’s presentation “What is RAWCS”?

Jan is Chair of the District RAWCS (Rotary Australia World Community Service) committee  and will be able to fill us in on the great work done by this group.

Please use the link below to indicate your attendance and meal selection for this week

It is imperative that your indication is made prior to midday each Wednesday as the meal order is given to the club at this time.

A number of our members will be attending the District Conference in Canberra this coming weekend.

At the meeting on 16th March we will be hearing a report of the conference.  This will provide a very entertaining and informative meeting.

Last Week

2nd March

Jan Richens from Central Coast Health was our speaker last week.  Jan reminded us of the great work we have done in our club by supporting Wyong Hospital.  She reminded us of the equipment we have donated and of the hands on work we have undertaken.  She is now looking forward to the donation of alarm chairs that we hope to provide through the funds raised at the upcoming race day.

An Exciting Invitation

We must have some members interested in this exciting event!

Dear Rotarian friends around the world,

The board and members of the Rotary Club of Alexandria Cosmopolitan - District 2451 – Egypt are happy to invite you and the members of your prestigious and respectful club to learn more about and share our Rotary organized initiative, "Cross Egypt Challenge" that aims to promote tourism to Egypt and world understanding.

Cross Egypt Challenge is a series of international cross-country motorcycle and scooter rallies conducted throughout one of the most mysterious and fascinating countries of the world, Egypt. Participation is not only open to Rotarians or professional athletes and riders, but also open to average riders and their accompanying spouses or friends from around the globe.

This amazing Rotary project started in 2011 and the first season was a 9 days rally from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea in the north of Egypt to the temple of Abu Simbel, on the southern borders of Egypt with a total distance of over 1700 km. The following 4 seasons had participants from over 35 different countries many of which were Rotarians and witnessed different routes throughout the River Nile valley, eastern and western Egyptian deserts and the Red Sea mountain range where the riders enjoyed riding between the most exotic oases and sights of Egypt and the north African Sahara.
