President's Message

Thank you to Richard Eifler our guest speaker last week. I am constantly amazed at the amount of good work and support that is provided for the disadvantaged of our community.  Richard and Next Step is one such organisation doing tremendous things.

Our President Elect, Steve Edmunds, has unfortunately had to withdraw from this position for personal reasons.  This means that we will need fill this position as soon as possible.  Nominations will be sought and a special General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th February to hopefully select our President Elect for 2016-17

This Friday 19th February we will be having our first Northlakes Toukley Rotary promotion at Lakehaven Shopping centre. I will be there from 9am to 5pm and would like some company.  If you can spare some time please let me know.  I would be more than happy for you just to come along for a short time to let our community know of the great work we do.  As well as promoting Rotary and our club we will also be selling our charity raffle tickets.

The Charity Race Day on 7th April is fast approaching and we would like at least one more race sponsor.  If you know of any company or organisation that may be interested please let organiser, Past President Mitch Cowan, or myself, know.

Past President Ken Smith has announced that he will be "retiring" from Rotary at the end of this Rotary year.  Ken has indicated that he would like to take a rest and explore other interests and spend more time with family (poor Maryann).  Ken has indicated that he would be only too happy to help anyone interested in taking over his role as webmaster and bulletin editor prior to his "retirement".

By having the special general meeting on 24th February it has meant rearranging our meeting program for this month.  We have brought our social night back to this week and so will be going to the Pizza Pit at Budgewoi this Wednesday 17th February.  We will need numbers earlier than usual so if you could indicate you attendance and number attending as soon as possible but no later than midday on Tuesday.  This should be a great night for partners and guests so bring as many as you like.

Working with children check completion deadline is fast approaching.  If you haven't yet done this could you please  do so ASAP.  Clicking on this link will take you to the appropriate website WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

Cabaret Highlights

Once again I would like to thank the organising committee for the hard work they put into making the cabaret so successful.

The support of Halakulani  Bowling Club was truly magnificent and Parties a Breeze and IGA Kanwal made the room festive with the table displays and free nibbles.

The entertainers were incredible and often had the audience on their feet.

The final financial results are not yet in but it looks as if we are going to be able to share quite a bit among Shirley's Shuttle, Camp Breakaway and the Iris Foundation.
