President's Message

What a wonderful afternoon we had at the Charity Cabaret this afternoon.  Terrific entertainment and wonderful company. I can't thank the staff of Halukalani Bowling Club enough for their support and the effort they put in to make it the great success it was.  It was also very enjoyable working with the organising committee of members from Northlakes Toukley, The Entrance and Wyong Tuggerah Rotary Clubs.  Thank you so much for your effort. Special thanks also to Parties a Breeze for the very impressive table decorations and Kanwal IGA for the goodies you found on the table.

I was pleased to be able to welcome District Governor Gina Growden and Harold and Assistant Governor Russell Grove and Frances to our event

Next week there will be a greater coverage of this afternoon's Cabaret.

The Race Day on 7th April is progressing very well but we would like another race sponsor.  If you are interested or know of someone who might be please let me know.

Until next time

Yours in Rotary

Jenny Abourizk

The finale to a great show.

Last Week

3rd February

Last week David Knight took us into the to harrowing world of slavery. To find out that slavery not only exists in our present day but that the number of slaves at the present time is greater than at any time in history was a great surprise.  Human trafficking is a gigantic criminal pursuit that exists not just overseas but on our own doorstep.

David has been at the forefront in the war against this insidious activity and we can only hope that this war continues and is won.

Next Week

17th February

Don’t miss the awesome Northlakes Toukley’s own Jan Pryor’s presentation “What is RAWCS”?

commences on Monday 7th March at the Wyong Race Club and runs until Friday 18th March (excluding Fri 11th March). This very worthwhile one day program specifically targets year 11 students who are just beginning to drive to assist them in becoming safe drivers on our roads.  All local high schools have been contacted and many have booked already.

RYDA has been operating for many years and we are very appreciative of the assistance of Central Coast Rotarians who each year volunteer their time to help with the successful running of this program.

As you may be aware we need six volunteers each day to act as guides for the student groups. We would also like one or two reserves each day as there are often last minute changes & cancellations that need to be covered.  Volunteers are required from 9am to 2pm, with lunch & morning tea provided.

I am aware that some clubs may want to volunteer on the days their local schools are attending.  For your information the following schools have already booked for 2016:

• Lake Munmorah – Mon 7th March

• Narara Valley – Tue 8th March

• Northlakes – Wed 9th March

• St Phillips – Thu 10th March

• McKillop College – Mon 14th March

• Central Coast Grammar – Tue 15th March

• Lisarow – Wed 16th March

• Tuggerah Lakes – Thu 17th March

• Wadalba Community – Fri 18th March

I will need the following information:

 1.     Name

2.     Contact phone number and email address. (confirmation of dates will be sent by email)

3.     Days available

4.     Any special dietary needs to assist with catering

My preferred contact is by email on chris.tyler8@bigpond.com.au or home phone 4382 1755 or 0419629008  Please contact me if you have any queries.

 Thank you for your assistance
